2024 Breast Cancer Alliance: Exceptional Project Grants The Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC) will be selecting TWO candidates for the BCA Exceptional Project Grant in breast cancer research. To be considered for selection, please submit your internal application through this InfoReady posting by the internal deadline of March 1, 2023 (5:00 pm PST). Breast Cancer Alliance invites clinical doctors and research scientists at any stage of their careers, including post docs, whose current proposal is focused on breast cancer, to apply for an Exceptional Project Grant. This award recognizes creative, unique and innovative research and is open to applicants at institutions throughout the contiguous United States. This is a one year grant for a total of $100,000. The grant provides salary support and project costs. Indirect costs, which are included in the $100,000 award, must be limited to 8% of total direct costs. Full applications to BCA are by invitation only and requires submission of an LOI. Researchers should coordinate with CFCCC, as BCA will accept a maximum of 2 Exceptional Project Grant LOIs per institution. Indirect costs, which are included in the $100,000 award, must be limited to 8% of total direct costs. The research project must be directly related to the field of breast cancer. Areas of relevant research may include but are not limited to: diagnosis, etiology, immunology, genetics and epigenetics, therapies, prevention and clinical studies. Grant recipients must submit a brief midterm report documenting progress toward completion of project aims by July 31, 2024 and a final report by within 60 days following the end of the grant term. Both reports must be written in layman terms and should include current accounting of expenditures to date. Failure to submit the progress report will result in forfeiture of any remaining grant funds. Grant recipients must also schedule a site visit with Breast Cancer Alliance representatives approximately midway during the grant term.
