Community Office of COE Orange County Cancer Coalition (OC3) CSUF/UCI-CFCCC Cancer Health Equity Research Partnership (CHERP) Chao Lectureship in Cancer Research Community Comprehensive cancer centers are charged with translating research and providing care to their communities, ensuring that each National Cancer Institute designated center meets the needs of its community. Home Community The Community Outreach & Engagement Office The Office of Community Outreach & Engagement (COE) was founded and is led by Sora Park Tanjasiri, DrPH, MPH, Associate Director for Cancer Health Disparities & Community Engagement and Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. The mission and long-range goal of the COE is to reduce cancer-related burdens in the catchment area through cancer monitoring, community outreach and education, leadership on county coalitions and statewide partnerships including the California Cancer Plan, policy advocacy, and facilitation of research that promotes cancer health equity within and beyond the catchment area. Learn More Learn About Our Catchment Area The catchment area of the UCI Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC) is Orange County, California, the sixth-most populated county in the U.S. and a majority-minority county. CFCCC focuses our basic and clinical research on addressing burdens that affect Orange County. The COE Office analyzes, identifies and characterizes the Catchment Area and the cancer burden within. Learn More Community Equity Board The COE office has established a Community Equity Board (CEB) of local leaders and patient advocates to ensure the community’s needs are informing CFCCC's research. The CEB's purpose is to help guide research and clinical care. Learn More Outreach & Education Our COE Office focuses on activities that address common cancers (e.g., breast, colon, lung, melanoma) and cancers that disproportionately affect the county’s ethnic/racial populations (e.g., cervix, liver and stomach cancers).
